Benjamin Tint is a classical guitarist, educator, and arts advocate based in central Connecticut. Known for his expressive playing and deep musical insight, Tint has built a multifaceted career as a performer, teacher, and community leader.

Raised in a musical family, Tint studied music education, choral pedagogy, and classical guitar at Central Connecticut State University, where he worked with guitarist Christopher Ladd. He later earned his master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School under the guidance of Christopher Ladd and Richard Provost. During his time at Hartt, Tint participated in several world premieres, including works by Clarice Assad and Lisa Coons, and performed in tributes to Leo Brouwer and Andrew York.

As a performer, Tint has released three studio albums and regularly appears in concert settings across the country, offering solo and chamber programs that span traditional and contemporary repertoire. His versatility extends beyond classical music; he has performed in rock and acoustic settings and has been a featured artist at events like the Connecticut Guitar Guild’s “Strings for Success” fundraiser.

In 2020, Tint co-founded the Connecticut Guitar Guild, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant guitar community in the region. As executive director, he oversees programming that includes concerts, workshops, and networking opportunities for guitarists of all levels.

Tint also hosts The Lone Guitarist, a podcast that offers candid conversations with leading figures in the guitar world. Guests have included Scott Tennant, Antigoni Goni, and Adam Levin, among others. The show is available on major streaming platforms and YouTube.

In addition to his performance and podcasting work, Tint is a dedicated educator. He teaches middle school music and leads an after-school guitar club, where he introduces students to the fundamentals of guitar playing and ensemble performance. He also offers private lessons and has adjudicated competitions such as the New Horizons Guitar Competition.

Whether on stage, in the classroom, or behind the microphone, Benjamin Tint continues to inspire audiences and students alike through his passion for the guitar and commitment to musical excellence.
